ASU First-year Student Scholarship Estimator
The scholarship estimator now reflects fall 2026 scholarship amounts, and ASU is automatically reviewing and awarding New American University Scholarships to admitted students. Notifications will be sent via email and mail. For questions, contact your admissions team member.
Information and criteria currently posted here is for students entering the fall 2024 or spring 2025 terms. Information about scholarship awarding, amounts and eligibility will be updated in the early fall.
Arizona State University awards merit scholarships, called New American University scholarships, to incoming first-year students with outstanding academic abilities. Student are only eligible for one New American University Scholarship. Merit scholarships serve as one resource to help you lower the cost of college however you are encouraged to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by ASU's priority filing date to be considered for additional federal and institutional financial aid.
Use this tool to get an estimate of how much New American University scholarship money you may be eligible to receive. These are estimates to help you plan and are not guaranteed.
Who is eligible for New American University scholarships
- ASU merit scholarships are only available to first-time, first-year students entering ASU the semester directly after high school graduation. If you enroll at another institution after high school graduation for anything other than summer courses, you will no longer be eligible for the merit scholarship.
- New American University scholarships are available to full-time, on-campus students registered for iCourses and ASU Sync. They are not available to ASU Online students.
- Students enrolled at ASU's West Valley or Polytechnic campuses may receive a separate award in addition to their New American University scholarship
How New American University scholarships are awarded
- Admitted students are automatically reviewed for ASU merit scholarships through May 1.
- New American University scholarships are awarded based on information submitted in your application for admission. We do not recalculate academic information (e.g. GPA or competency courses) for scholarship purposes after admission.
- ASU merit scholarships are awarded based on a combination of your high school GPA in core competencies, the number of those competencies you have completed or have in progress, and the degree program, residency and campus that you're admitted to. Your ACT or SAT scores are not required for award eligibility. Changes in degree program, residency, campus or tuition rate may result in a scholarship adjustment.
- ACT or SAT scores are not required for scholarship eligibility but providing them may lead to increased scholarship awards. ASU must receive your test score(s) by May 1 in order for them to be considered.
- If you are offered a New American University scholarship, any funds you have earned through RaiseMe micro-scholarships will be included in the total ASU New American University scholarship you are offered. They are not added on top of the merit scholarship amount.
- Changes in program, residency, campus or tuition rate may result in a scholarship amount adjustment.
ASU Commitment Scholarship
The ASU Commitment Scholarship is automatically offered at the time of admission to students who meet the following eligibility criteria:
- First-time, first-year out-of-state U.S. citizen enrolling at ASU the semester immediately after high school graduation. Students who enroll at another college or university after high school (except for summer courses) are not eligible.
- Admitted and enrolled full time in an undergraduate, on-campus program, including iCourses and ASU Sync. ASU Online students are not eligible.
- Family income no higher than $200,000.
This scholarship can be combined with other institutional awards, including the New American University Scholarship and campus-specific scholarships, and cannot exceed cost of attendance.
The ASU Commitment Scholarship has the same renewal requirements as the New American University Scholarship. To remain eligible, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress and meet all criteria outlined in the scholarship renewal guide.
